Mission
The Nutrition Services Program of the Marion County Public Health Department addresses the nutritional needs of the community through education about healthy eating habits.
Diet is often linked to several chronic diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, and some cancers. The nutrition staff provide nutrition assessment, counseling, and education to groups and individuals. Staff provide information at various venues in the community from corporate wellness sites, schools, residential communities, faith-based organizations, food pantries, public library sites, and daycare settings, to name a few. Education is presented through health fairs, written newsletters, radio and television viewing, and public presentations.
