The Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) program of Marion County, Indiana, aims to learn more about the loss of babies in and ways to prevent future losses. Support Programs We Offer

The Maternal & Child Health (MCH) Department is composed of six programs that are dedicated to helping families through pregnancy and the first couple years of a baby’s life.

Incentive program that provides new and gently used clothing and supplies for pregnant women and children up to age 5.

Gives mothers a chance to share their stories about the loss of their babies either with a nurse at a home visit, through a phone call, or by completion of a survey. The information gathered helps a team of health care experts find ways to make services and resources better for mothers and babies.

A community-based effort dedicated to improving birth outcomes and reducing the number of babies who die before their first birthday. Solutions are sought through advocacy, innovative initiatives and policy development.

A community-based initiative that provides case management through home visitation, free health education classes to the community and outreach to pregnant women and families in an effort to eliminate the disparities in birth outcomes and improve infant survival rates.

Addresses the nutrition needs of both mothers and babies by providing educational resources via virtual or live classes, demonstrations, and home visitation.

Provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support, supplemental foods and referrals to social and health services for pregnant women and children up to age five.

A community-based incentive program that helps families increase self-sufficiency and decrease low birth weight births and infant mortality by encouraging positive coupon distributors for new and gently used clothing and basic baby essentials.

Women, Infants, & Children Program (WIC)

This program serves to safeguard the health of low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk by providing supplemental healthy foods, breastfeeding support, health assessments, and referrals to healthcare and community resources matched to the applicants’ unique needs. WIC also serves to empower families through participant-focused nutrition education and fatherhood engagement activities.
